Onam 2026: Celebrating the Flavours and Spirit of Kerala in Singapore

This Onam, discover the flavours and traditions of Kerala with Curry Magic’s Onam Sadhya 2026. From classic vegetarian dishes to the warmth of sharing a meal with family and friends, join us in bringing a little taste of Kerala to Singapore.

There is something special about Onam.
For many Malayalis, it is more than a festival on the calendar. It is a time to come together, welcome family and friends, remember home, and enjoy the food that makes the celebration feel complete. In Singapore, where so many of us live far from Kerala, those familiar flavours can bring back a little piece of home.
In 2026, Thiruvonam falls on Wednesday, 26 August, marking the main day of Onam celebrations.
And of course, no Onam celebration would feel quite the same without a Sadhya.
What is an Onam Sadhya?
An Onam Sadhya is the traditional vegetarian feast served during Onam. It is usually enjoyed on a banana leaf, with a variety of dishes arranged together to create a meal that is colourful, comforting and full of different flavours and textures.
There is no single dish that makes a Sadhya special. It is the combination that does it.
You might have the sweetness of a little payasam, the tang of a good pulissery, the richness of aviyal and the warmth of sambar and rasam, all coming together with rice. Some dishes are creamy, some are crunchy, some are spicy and some are wonderfully simple.
It is the kind of meal where every item has its place.
The heart of Onam is coming together
While the food is an important part of Onam, the festival has always been about much more than what is on the plate.
Onam is associated with the return of King Mahabali and is celebrated as a time of togetherness, joy and abundance. Across Kerala and wherever Malayali communities gather around the world, homes and communities come alive with celebrations, flowers, traditional decorations and, of course, plenty of good food.
For those celebrating in Singapore, Onam is also an opportunity to share that tradition with the next generation, friends and anyone who simply loves Kerala food.
Our Onam Sadhya at Curry Magic
At Curry Magic, we wanted our Onam Sadhya 2026 to capture the feeling of a traditional Kerala feast while making it easy for families and friends in Singapore to enjoy together.
Our Sadhya brings together a selection of classic vegetarian dishes, freshly prepared with the flavours and ingredients that make Kerala cuisine so distinctive.
From sambar, aviyal, rasam and pulissery to the other dishes that complete a traditional Sadhya, every item has been prepared to be enjoyed as part of the whole feast.
Because that is what makes a Sadhya different.
It is not really about choosing one favourite dish. It is about sitting down to a spread of many different flavours and enjoying them together.
